What advantage is Senior Travel to you?

“Once you have traveled, the voyage never ends but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers. The mind can never break off from the journey.” – Pat Conroy

See the world with new wonder and wisdom. Grasp the pleasure of experience and remembrance with a whole new perspective of understanding. Consider that solo, group trip, or cruise that you have been dreaming about for years. You deserve it! Let the journey begin!

What is the true meaning of benefit? A benefit is something that helps you. If you take out insurance for your car, you know that insurance will benefit you if you have an accident. The same benefit can be obtained by travel. Your whole well-being and perspective on life will benefit enormously from your trip.

When the children move out and you retire, often a feeling of isolation remains. Gerascophobia starts to show its head. This is a new fear that starts to invent itself in many senior people. Moments when you feel panic, dread, terror, an illogical dread of growing old, and anxiety starts to stir up regularly for no reason at all. Quite common with most of the older generation. You most certainly are not alone!

When you venture out on your vacation, your mind sharpens, and your emotions will be sore as you view beautiful landscapes and majestic scenery. Experiences of relaxation will come over you and stress will be a thing that belonged somewhere in the past.

Moments of involvement will remind you of how young you actually are. It is so important to keep our minds stimulated and youthful.  It is so important to learn new things as you get into those wiser years.

On one of my travels, I remember having an epiphany as I gazed out from a mountaintop. “I remember this feeling! Yes, I feel like I did when I was 25 years old! I feel like ME!”

Adventures allow you to meet Like-minded Individuals

It is so important to socialize with other people. Often when we are at home we are isolated. Socialization leads to longevity. Do you know travel leads to an increase in cardiovascular health?

Fears of catching bugs from strange lands can be real to many seniors and this can be a deterrent or an excuse why you should not travel, but the opposite is actually true. Travel builds up our immune system.

Meeting new people is invigorating, refreshing, and stimulating and a great benefit to senior travel! I am a shy individual, but traveling and meeting new people made me realize that most people are just like me. As we chat, I feel more confident and love their stories and history. When you are on a tour with a group of travelers of similar ages to yourself, the stories and laughter you share are so inspiring!

People of similar ages can relate to each other through clothing, historical incidents, ethos, and humor.  Most seniors have grandchildren, have been married, or are married and these shared and compared incidents are medicine to the soul!  Many people you meet on your trips become lifelong friends and future traveling companions.

How mingling with young people will benefit seniors and young alike in travel

“If wrinkles must be written upon our brows, let them not be written upon the heart. The spirit should never grow old.”

James A. Garfield

How I adore the youthful mind! So much energy! I get excited when I discuss issues with younger people throughout the world. More often than not the older adult needs to listen and the bubbly youngster will do the talking. The senior is regenerated into earlier years, and remembering the same gushes of enthusiasm and energy through these discussions revitalizes the inner being of the senior.

You may be accumulating years on the outside, body, and face, but when you travel and socialize with the youth, there is a regeneration of spirit.

When you journey everywhere this keenness for life is parallel with most youngsters but is conveyed in different forms according to their cultures. You will be left with satisfaction and worthiness.

Why international journeys are quests to broaden your love of other cultures

“Cultural differences should not separate us from each other, but rather cultural diversity brings a collective strength that can benefit all of humanity.”

Robert Alan

Meeting and communicating with other cultures fosters a new awareness, and understanding and will broaden your view of our world. By experiencing other languages, and new perceptions, you will be able to appreciate and comprehend what you have been guessing for years.

Instead of having assumptions about different cultures, you will establish rich relationship-building experiences. Do not believe the saying “Old people like old dogs, can’t learn new tricks.” This is hogwash! I have gathered so much fresh knowledge, humor, and appreciation from other cultures.

This venture teaches us to grasp that our reality is not the only actuality and our ideals, principles, values, and beliefs are only a little pigeonhole compared to the rest of the world. The women I have met throughout the world have left me in awe, many times.

You may not be able to change the world, but meeting other women throughout the world will change you. As a more mature woman, you now have the wisdom to appreciate so many more angles than you would as a younger traveler.

So if you are retired, getting bored, and have not had many opportunities to travel previously, this is the time to do so.

I am a young Grandma and my grandkids and my kids spark in me my “Happy Place!” I have traveled for years in my business and loved the people I met, many of whom have now become friends.  Traveling with my son and his wife opened up new escapades and joyful memories. They have now moved to Montenegro.

Going on holiday with my daughter, son-in-law, and two grandkids is my story of dreams. My other son, wife, and two grandkids moved over to the Netherlands in January 2019. Just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, my husband and I were about to venture out to visit them in the Netherlands, meet my other son and his wife there, and then journey with them back to Montenegro.

Due to the lockdown, we were unable to start that adventure, but the lockdown soon ended and our dreams and travel continue!

Time is moving fast! Start making your Senior Travel Plans now!

Don’t be scared. I was initially scared, and still got butterflies prior to a trip.

My nerves are different now. I get nervously excited and just cannot wait to rehearse new dialects, see new sights, encounter new vibes, experience the awe of historic buildings, and meet new people. The new cuisine and mouth-watering tastes, although I am still a conservative eater. There are many benefits to seniors traveling!
